Philipp P. Caffier MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Audiology and Phoniatrics, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany. His main interests are laryngology, phonosurgery, and musicians’ medicine, including the diagnostics and treatment of voice and hearing disorders.

Before studying medicine at the Humboldt-University in Berlin, he attended the music secondary school Georg-Friedrich-Händel, was a member of the choir Rundfunk-Kinderchor Berlin, and earned a degree in classical, folk and modern dance. In 2003 he obtained his medical doctorate (Dr. med.). From 2003 to 2008 resident physician at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. 2008 ENT specialist. From 2008 to 2010 research associate at the Tinnitus Centre, the Research Laboratory for Molecular Biology, and at the Prevention Centre, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. 2010 allergology specialisation. From 2010 to 2011 qualification as medical didactician. 2011 habilitation (Priv.-Doz.), postdoctoral lecture qualification (venia legendi). 2013 specialist for Phoniatrics and Pedaudiology. Since 2011 responsible for the internet representation of the German Society for Phoniatrics and Pedaudiology (DGPP). Karl Storz Teaching Award (2013) and Medal of Merit (2014) of the DGPP. Since 2014 board member of the German Singing Teachers Association (Bundesverband Deutscher Gesangspädagogen, BDG).
