Orlando Guntinas-Lichius, MD, is a dedicated otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon, subspecializing in laryngology, head and neck surgery, head and neck oncology.

Orlando Guntinas-Lichius studied medicine in Cologne, Germany. He completed his specialist training in otorhinolaryngology at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, University of Cologne in 1998 and worked in the department until 2006. Since 2006 he is full professor for Otorhinolaryngology and head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Jena University Hospital, Jena, Germany. His main research interests are head and neck cancer, salivary gland tumors, facial nerve reconstruction. He is much interested in neurological aspects of ENT diseases. In the field of head and neck cancer, his research is focused in the moment on clinical trials and biophotonic technologies for image guided surgery.

Orlando Guntinas-Lichius is currently presidium member of the German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. He is also president of the ENT Academy of the German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.

He is chairperson of the Committee on Neurolaryngology of the ELS. Recently, he has published together with Christian Sittel, Germany, under the auspices of the ELS a book dedicated to neurolaryngology.
