Mary Lei is a consultant clinical oncologist at Guy’s Cancer Centre, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She graduated from King’s College London in 2000 and undertook specialist oncology training in London at Imperial Healthcare Trust and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Lei undertook a two-year postgraduate research degree at the University of Surrey, focusing on aspects of advanced image-guided intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) in head and neck cancer, followed by a one year charity funded IMRT fellowship in head and neck cancer at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She was appointed as a consultant at Guy’s in 2011.

Dr Lei’s special interests include treatment of patients with head and neck and thyroid cancers with radiation therapy and systemic therapies including immunotherapy. She also specialises in the management of patients with neuroendocrine tumours. Currently, she is the chair of the centralised south-east London head and neck cancer multidisciplinary meeting, chair of clinical oncology radiotherapy research and development group and college tutor for clinical oncology training at Guy’s. She is active in research and is particularly interested in novel therapies and predictive biomarkers in head and neck cancer.
