Dr. J. Pieter Noordzij joined the Boston University School of Medicine in July, 2006 and currently hold the academic rank of Professor of Otolaryngology. He is the Vice Chairman of Clinical Affairs for the Department of Otolaryngology at Boston Medical Center. His areas of interest and expertise include voice and swallowing disorders, as well as thyroid and parathyroid disorders.

Dr. Noordzij received his Medical Degree from the University of Virginia in 1990. He then completed his Surgical Internship at Tufts University/New England Medical Center in 1995 and his Otolaryngology – Head and Neck residency at the University of Virginia in 2000. After practicing otolaryngology for 5 years in the United States Air Force, Dr. Noordzij completed a fellowship in Laryngology and Care of the Professional Voice at Vanderbilt University in June 2006.

Dr. Noordzij’s clinical interests include providing state-of-the-art medical and surgical management of disorders that affect the laryngopharynx, thyroid and parathyroid gland. His expertise covers the following areas: Adult and Pediatric Laryngology, Care of the Professional Voice, Airway Disorders, Thyroid and Parathyroid disorders, Head and Neck Cancer, and Care of Swallowing Disorders. Dr. Noordzij works in the Boston University Voice and Swallowing Center which is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of laryngological surgeons and speech language pathologists specially trained to manage voice (both speaking and singing) disorders and swallowing disorders.
