Frederik G Dikkers the Netherlands

Frederik G Dikkers MD, PhD, is a full Professor in Otorhinolaryngology at the Academic Medical Center of the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Visiting Professor at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. He has been Associated Professor in Laryngology at the University Medical Center Groningen in the Netherlands. For more than 25 years he has been responsible for the local Voice Clinic including two different courses on endoscopy. His interests include the full array of pediatric and adult laryngeal and tracheal problems. He was founder and president of the local working group on tracheal intervention. The Groningen dilatation tracheoscope was developed by his group.

From 2008–2016, prof. Dikkers has been general secretary of the European Laryngological Society, where he is member of the Presidential Council. He is, amongst other memberships, a board member of the International Association of Phonosurgery IAP, and full member of the American Broncho-Esophagological Association ABEA and American Laryngological Association ALA. He is a reviewer of 11 journals, author and co-author of 100 international peer reviewed papers. He has co-authored 48 chapters in various textbooks on the larynx and on the difficult airway.

He has supervised several PhD projects on Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis and is co-supervising PhD projects on, amongst others, Narrow Band Imaging and tracheal embryology. In addition he has supervised more than 50 master’s theses in medicine. He has given more than 700 presentations in more than 30 countries. He was Teacher of the year of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Groningen in 2006.
