Prof EW Odell is Professor of Oral Pathology and Medicine, King’s College London and Honorary Consultant in Histopathology, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, previously Clinical Lead for Head and Neck Pathology. He has special interests in oral carcinoma and precancer, molecular oncology of oral precancer, sentinel node biopsy and odontogenic tumours.

Prof Odell has published nearly 150 peer-reviewed journal articles and has written or edited 5 textbooks and has been an author for the 2005 and 2017 WHO Classification of Head and Neck Tumours and a member of the consensus subgroup for oral and odontogenic lesions for the 2017 edition. He also led the International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting dataset for odontogenic tumours.

Prof Odell has published original research on the molecular changes in dysplasia and has investigated and runs a DNA ploidy analysis service for prediction of malignant transformation in dysplastic lesions throughout the upper aerodigestive tract and in Barrett’s oesophagus.
