Berit Schneider-Stickler studied human medicine and music in Berlin/Germany. She completed her training as a specialist in ear, nose and throat medicine at the universities in Berlin and Essen. Subsequently, she joined the Department of Phoniatrics-Logopedics of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, University of Vienna, for additional training in Phoniatrics. Currently, she is deputy head of this department.

For many years she has been involved in the diagnostics and therapy of laryngological disorders. Special emphasis is given to standards in voice diagnostics and prevention of occupational voice disorders. Further, she has been involved in quality assurance in the care of tracheostomized patients not only within the framework of university intensive care, but also with the general establishment of care standards for tracheostomized patients in medical care facilities and in the homecare sector.

She is co-editor of two textbooks “Voice diagnostic” and “Tracheostomy and care of tracheostomized patients”, both published by Springer Verlag.
